![]() ![]() | Depressing Disorders Of all the mental disorders ANXIETY is the most common one. Worry is the demon that rides the back of most people, though some may face it for brief intervals only. Most of us realize the undesirability of worrying but we can not stop our self from doing so. Try to be better today than you were yesterday, you are bound to have a better tomorrow. All you need to use powerhouse, that is your mind, to its full capacity, to generate posit ive energy and capability. All of us have certain amount of drive, ambit ion, love & capacity for hard work. We all are very clean & pure in mind when we are born but gradually molded into different kinds of people by our circumstances, environment, training & people we come in contact with. As we progress in life, our opinion of ourselves begins to change & we start too view ourselves in different light. Most of us worry of falling ill, some worry about others needlessly. Teenagers worry about sexual problems. Their worries disappear when they find out that they are not abnormal, but much time is wasted in tense fear. Too much worry robs you of your zest for life & energy for work. It is we ourselves who somet imes imagine that we are no good & are not capable of anything worthwhile, only because of our own sensit ivity & touchiness. Worry spoils life, which would otherwise have been useful & beautiful. If you begin with a feeling that perhaps you are not good enough, perhaps you do not have the capacity to work steadfastly & with devot ion, you are not very likely to go far. Because your thoughts have applied the brakes to your ambit ion, put t ing up a big mental barriers a block, j ust as tangible as traffic barrier put up in the street to prevent you from going ahead. Depression is a stumbling block to the progress. A person who worries, wakes up tired because they squander mental & nervous energies faster than sleep can restore them. A person who worries traps his characteristics & personality. Individuality & Creativity never gets a chance to surface. The worry habit begins at a young age, probably in teens. Fear is the precursor of the worry in young children. Once we feel anxious, whatever the original cause, a vicious circle is set into mot ion. We become more and more aware of minor aches & pains and in turn this makes us more anxious. Anxious adults make anxious parents & help create an atmosphere of uncertainty at home. This makes the children not only insecure but anxious themselves. Depression becomes an illness when it overwhelms the personality. Today, there is more understanding of emot ional illness than in older t imes. Most of the person who are depressed shows signs of prolonged stress, there is no joy in living and the works previously enjoyed becomes a burden. Concentration is poor and physical activities are slowed down. There is loss of appetite, loss of weight & fatigue. One has to try him self to overcome this depression, anxiety & worry. The energy spent in planning & constructive thought & act ion is positive, unlike the waste of energy & negat ive thoughts spent in brooding over what may happen. Have a good regular diet, good exercise, keeping yourself busy with physical activities, strong religious faith. Stop self-criticism & comparing yourself badly with others. Most of us are afraid of failure, ridicule, negative public opinion and humiliation. Try to become more social & helpful, get involved in creat ive & social activities around you. When you have done your best at any given time and to best of your ability, leave the rest to god or dest iny, whichever you believe in. Since, it is difficult to predict what may crop up next. We simply have to see ourselves as we really are, instead of what people think we are.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION!!!! “I look at it very much like depression, ... All of us can get depressed. If somebody dies in the family, and you don't get depressed, there's something wrong with you. But there's a small percentage of people who have major depressive disorders. It's the same kind of thing with bulimia and anorexia; it's a spectrum.” |
